Annabel’s musical journey began in primary school when she picked up the flute at the age of seven. From an early age she developed a strong love for music, progressing through the grades and eventually achieving Grade 8. Growing up around a mixture of classical music, rock and pop helped shape her broad musical taste. At the age of fourteen she discovered the drums during a taster session in a music lesson and quickly developed a passion for the instrument, later completing Grade 8 in drums as well. During her school years she performed regularly in bands and musical theatre productions, gaining valuable experience as a live musician.

Alongside her education, Annabel performed in a variety of ensembles and musical settings. She played flute with the Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra and was also the drummer in her school jazz band. More recently, she has depped for function bands including Blinding Lights, The Groovy Funky Things and The Detours. She also performs with an originals band called Prairie and has recently joined an 80s covers band, ReWired, continuing to build experience across a wide range of styles and live performance environments.

As a teacher, Annabel focuses on building a strong rapport with her students and tailoring lessons to suit each individual. Her teaching style is relaxed and supportive, with an emphasis on making lessons fun, engaging and centred around the enjoyment of music. Lessons often include rhythm games and typically begin with drum rudiments before progressing to grooves and fills. Musically, she takes inspiration from drummers such as Dave Grohl, John Bonham, Taylor Hawkins and Josh Dunn. While rock music is a major influence for her, she also enjoys electronic genres including house and drum and bass.
